kulcha don
"Kulcha Don truly captures the essence of what it is to be a great artist. He possesses an international appeal that transcends racial, cultural, linguistic and geographical boundaries." Charisse Nikole, Honey Magazine.

Kulcha Don is no newcomer to the music scene. His career officially started in 1994 when he began traveling and performing with New York's original sound system, Down Beat, the same sound that helped create reggae veterans like Super Cat, Shabba Ranks and others.

Kulcha knew he always wanted to do more than just hardcore reggae. After meeting Daryl Jenkins, R & B producer of Joe's first single, I'm In Love, he put touring with the sound system on hold. Working with Daryl, Kulcha's music began to show more diversity. This opened the door for him to perform with more hip hop and R & B artists. Kulcha did his first professional recording with C+C Music Factory with whom he recorded two songs, one with Martha Wash (Two Tons of Fun, Weather Girls), and a remix with then dancehall queen Patra. The latter became a smash in Europe & Japan.

Following on his early success, Kulcha stayed busy doing more recordings, and he teamed up with Spragga Benz and The Fugees for more singles. He also signed a one-year deal with EWFM, a label based in France and he spent several months there touring and recording his first dance album.

Upon returning to New York, Kulcha was approached by Yinka Dare, an NBA pro basketball player with the New Jersey Nets to sign a one-album deal with his label Roots Entertainment. For the love of music, Kulcha found himself back in studio on a grinding schedule to produce and record his next set. The album, Blood Inna Mi Eyes, featured Brooklyn's hottest rap group MOP, reggae song bird Nadine Sutherland and R & B trio FATE.

Kulcha Don now spends a considerable amount of time performing on the local reggae circuit, and he's recently returned from Africa where he was doing a number of dates with Wayne Wonder. His eyes are fully focused on the future, and for now his energies are being channeled into producing a sensational album for his new label, RuffNation. He recognizes the pressure of being the first artist scheduled for 2006 release on RuffNation. His first single, "Drive You Crazy" is at radio NOW!
